Maurice Thomas (studied under Rodin; Paris) - Very important painting "The Red Hand" After the famous 1938 horror movie - "The Devil's Hand." (Released USA 1943) Thomas changed his name to Tournier and became the 2nd most famous silent film director next to Cecil B Demille. Pictured below with a young starlett. (SOLD 5/5/2010)
Mahonri Young - Renown sculptor, illustrator and painter. He was the son of Brigham Young. Studied in Paris (extensive biography and auction records) The Estate work above came from an Upstate NY library in 1953 where it had hung since the 1930's. 1919 Victor Victrola. Period piece - Gothic Design. In it's day it cost $18,000 in current money. Edition of 50. Now 1 of 14 known to exist. Sold for $6500.00.

$6500.00 - Marcia Marx Self portrait - 1957. Studied under Rufino Tamayo and traveled extensively with him painting murals. Personally knew Diego Rivera, Frieda Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, Remedio Veras and many other Mexican painters. Was the first female to be invited for a one person show in the Mexican national Museum of Fine Art. Time magazine ran an article on her in 1957. Further, Cosmopolitan listed her as one of the 5 most promising women artists along with Georgia O'Keefe. (This painting and the two that follow, "Lamentations" and "Grapefruit"

Marcia Marx - "Lamentations" Jewish Cemetery 1959 - 30" x 40". Very large and important work. In 2002, near the very end of her life, Marcia who was Jewish and lived in Manhattan, exhibited at the Holocaust Museum in Houston Texas - 50 years after this painting was painted.  $8500.00
