$6500.00 - Marcia Marx Self portrait - 1957. Studied under Rufino Tamayo and traveled extensively with him painting murals. Personally knew Diego Rivera, Frieda Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, Remedio Veras and many other Mexican painters. Was the first female to be invited for a one person show in the Mexican national Museum of Fine Art. Time magazine ran an article on her in 1957. Further, Cosmopolitan listed her as one of the 5 most promising women artists along with Georgia O'Keefe.
